		<description>I don't entirely understand your question.  Trees should always have branches, otherwise they'd just be a big trunk.  If she's talking about suckers maybe coming out, they need to be cut off.  Suckers would be coming out from the roots of the tree, from the base or from just below the regular sets of branches.  Use some good, sharp pruners and cut them off at the base of the branch.  If you cut the suckers off, the tree puts its energy into fullness on the top and out of the branches instead of putting its energy into making new growth (which would be the suckers).
